Even though the merrell trail glove 3 is designed for trail running with its 3mm lug depth vibram outsole the shoe can take you to both road and trail runs without any problem.

On the road an ultralight mesh upper keeps your feet cool and short sticky lugs. There is no rock plate and no cushioning to soften any impact. As stated incorporated into the trail glove 4 is the vibram tc5 outsole. The shoe provides support and offers a good amount of energy return for the wearer.

Trail glove 4 is a wise choice to make for minimal trail running. With no midsole cushioning and a short stack height the vapor glove puts your foot right against the ground for maximum responsiveness. Merrell made a wonderful barefoot trail show when they made the trail glove. This material allows the runner to feel the trail beneath their feet without incurring too much physical stress.

It s not as light as the mizuno wave universe but it s a little more comfortable and lasts a lot longer the fourth version has larger changes than the earlier merrell trail glove 3 which was only a cosmetic change if you re looking for a shoe that minimalist but offers more protection and a little more cushioning than a true barefoot.
